This notice describes how ProCustomer will manage the information collected through the provision of its web site. It should be read in conjunction with our terms and conditions.

Business members

Business members must provide certain information about their business in order to use the system. This includes at minimum, basic information about the services they offer, their email address and their location. Optionally they can also add a detailed business description, logos of any societies or organisations they are accredited to and their company logo.

We may from time to time send business members a newsletter (by email or in the post) or other communication containing news about ProCustomer, hints and tips, special offers, and other information that we feel would be of interest to our members.

We may pass the information we collect about a business member to other members of our group, including companies with which we have joint ventures or strategic alliances. Businesses may at any time choose for their data to be excluded from such arrangements by sending an email to support@procustomer.net

We may also share aggregated demographic information with our Affiliates and advertisers. This is not linked to any information that can identify any individual person or business.

From time to time, we may telephone business members of ProCustomer in order to seek their views about the service provided.

Customers who leave feedback

Customers who agree to leave feedback for a business will be asked for certain information, including their email address, to assist ProCustomer and the business in verifying the customer’s identity. We will send customers an email thanking them for leaving feedback, as part of the steps we take to confirm the identity of those leaving feedback. We may also make a short phone call for the same purpose.

A business about which its customer has left a testimonial comment on ProCustomer has the option to write and attach a case study to that testimonial, setting out more information about the value of its service. The testimonial and case study may, at the selection of the business, be published on the internet and placed in a searchable database from where it can be found and read by anyone. ProCustomer has no control over the content of the case study. Any dispute over the content must be resolved between the business and its customer in the first instance. If agreement cannot be reached the customer may contact ProCustomer (by emailing support@procustomer.net in the first instance) who will delete the case study from the record.

We may from time to time send customers who have left feedback an email containing news about the site, hints and tips, special offers, and other information that we feel would be of interest to them. Customers may choose not to receive such emails by sending an email to support@procustomer.net A customer can request that all their personal information be deleted from the site by sending an email to support@procustomer.net

Customers’ details (including email addresses) will be accessible by the businesses about whom they leave feedback. Each business will decide how it will use that data. If a customer’s data were deleted from the ProCustomer web site at the customer’s request, it would no longer be available to the businesses through the site. Businesses may, however, be holding their own copy of the customer’s data, which would not be affected by the deletion. ProCustomer is not responsible for the privacy policies of its Business members.

Searchers using ProCustomer will normally be able to view the name or initials of a person who has left feedback; their job title; company; town/location; the date of leaving the feedback and the feedback comment itself. A person leaving feedback however may select to have some or all of this information withheld using the facilities on the system, except for the feedback comment itself and the date.

Note that where a customer has chosen to display the above information, the business about whom they have left feedback has the option to withhold it from publication.

Customers may also choose, on a voluntary basis, to leave sufficient details to allow prospective customers to contact them. There are three ways in which this might take place:
- By "blind email": an email would be sent by ProCustomer on behalf of the searcher to the customer. The word "blind" is used to indicate that the email address of the searcher will be disclosed to the original customer, but the email address of the original customer will not be disclosed to the searcher.
- By telephone: the telephone number would be displayed to the searcher, together with any message from the customer concerning convenient times to call.
- By arrangement with the business they have left feedback about: Customers will make these choices at the point they leave their feedback and may subsequently change their choices through the site.

The facilities to send blind emails and to access customers’ telephone numbers is only accessible to searchers who have registered and thus confirmed their identity to ProCustomer. These individuals are described as Registered Users.

Customers’ details will NOT be sold to third parties. We may however share aggregated demographic information with our Affiliates and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.

Registered Users

Registered users are prospective customers or searchers who are eligible to contact customers by blind email or by telephone. Registered users must provide certain information to allow us to confirm their identity.

ProCustomer will keep a full record of which Registered User has been enabled to contact which customer. The prime purpose of this record is to discourage any abuse of the information.

We may from time to time send Registered Users a newsletter (by email or in the post) containing news about ProCustomer, hints and tips, special offers, and other information that we feel would be of interest to our members. Customers may choose not to receive such emails by sending an email to support@procustomer.net

We may pass the information we collect about Registered Users to other members of our group, including companies with which we have joint ventures or strategic alliances. Registered Users may at any time choose for their data to be excluded from such arrangements by sending an email to support@procustomer.net

We may also share aggregated demographic information with our Affiliates and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.

Protecting email addresses

We forbid other individuals or organisations from taking email addresses from this site and using them for reasons other than in direct connection with a member's request for contact.

We aim to protect members' email addresses from those programs that scan web sites, siphoning out email addresses for spam use. This is done to the best of our ability and current knowledge but without risking denial of access from our legitimate users

If you believe a company or individual has obtained your email address from ProCustomer and is not responding to a request for contact, please contact support@procustomer.net, providing as much information as possible. We will take whatever action we feel is appropriate and within our power.

Cookies

These are or will be used for a number of purposes: To enable us to identify users as they visit different pages on the site, in order that we can personalise the visitor experience. To gather aggregated statistics about how people use our site in order to inform decisions about future developments. To avoid the need for users to repeatedly log in. To enable us to recognise and greet visitors on their next visit to ProCustomer. To identify potential instances of fraudulent use of the site.

Timescale for changes
